Description
Natural coloured hessian(? - unbleached linen) decoratively embroidered with undulating repetative patterns in rows incorporating the alphabet, numerals, the year it was crafted 1852, name of embroidress Elizabeth Jane Stephens, a variety of decorative plants, a heart shape and two dogs. Executed in cross-stitch using threads of brown tones and dark green. One selvedge, three edges folded and hand hemned. Mounted on A/F card covered with calico for exhibition 1994.
